I've been waiting a couple years now to throw Dad a "When I'm 64" party - a Beatles-themed get-together inspired by the Beatles tune from the Sgt. Pepper's album. We wanted to assure Dad that "yes, we still need [him,] yes, we'll still feed [him,] when [he's] 64!"
The Beatles-themed menu included Yellow Submarine Sandwiches, I am the Eggman Deviled Eggs, Octopus's Garden Seafood Salad, When I'm 64 Cupcakes, Strawberry Fields Forever Shortcake, and Lovely Rita Margaritas. (The munchies that came with the meal couldn't quite fit into the theme, so not everything got a Beatles name!)
Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of all the family and friends that joined us once the party got rolling, but I hope Dad felt very warm from all the love coming his way as he blew out his candles.
And I just had to share Matt's walrus impression. When we couldn't find a Beatles tee for him, we were proud of ourselves in coming up with the idea for a shirt that said "Walrus" in reference to John Lennon's "I Am the Walrus" (that I for one, learned about via Ferris Bueller prior to actually hearing the song as a young adult). He didn't just stop at the shirt, though. . . .
Happy Birthday, Dad, from all of us!
